How to shut off your water supply.
To shut off your home's main water supply,
1. Locate the valve where the water line enters your house (basement, crawl space, or outside near the meter) and identify if it's a wheel or lever handle.
2. Turn the wheel clockwise until tight or turn the lever perpendicular to the pipe to stop water flow.
3. Open faucets to drain lines and relieve water pressure.
